Julian Easterling
Senior Engineer

Julian Easterling has been programming computers since 1977 and since 1996 in business environments. He develops primarily in C# now but during his career, both personal and professionally,  has programmed using Perl, PHP, Python, VB, Java, JavaScript, FORTRAN, C, C++, and a little bit of COBOL. He discovered during that time, that he really did not like programming in Perl and C++. “Write once, write again because you can’t figure out what you did 6 months ago…” became too common. These days when he is not writing code in C#, he also writes code in Python and JavaScript/node.js. He develops mainly on the Windows platform but also likes to program for Linux systems once in a while.

Julian is passionate about software development and application life-cycle management (ALM) and the design and architecture of systems and related operation, servers, and networks. He likes to work in challenging work environments where he can use his varied skills to design and develop cost-effective solutions. Sizing up complex issues is one of his strongest strengths where he sorts through the pieces, pulls out the key elements, and then draws up effective action plans. He strives to stay current with new developments in software development by attending several user groups, meet-ups, and code camps in the areas. He has been known to drive as far as Pittsburg for a day-long code camp in order to learn. To say that he “eat, sleep, and dream” this stuff is probably not that far of a stretch…

Julian also works on several open-source projects (https://github.com/dcjulian29) during his spare time and maintains a web site (https://julianscorner.com) to share personal experiences to friends and family and to share knowledge to others when he thinks that the information is valuable. When not doing “tech-things”, he enjoy bicycle riding and hiking on the many trails around the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
